About...

For me, sake has never been just about what’s in the glass. It’s about the people, places, traditions, and stories behind it. From historic breweries and centuries-old fermentation techniques to local communities, artisans, and cultural traditions, I’m endlessly curious about the things that connect people to a place and give it meaning.

I’m a Swiss writer, photographer, sake sommelier, and tourism professional based in Kyoto, Japan and over the past decade, I’ve travelled extensively across Japan, documenting brewery life, regional food cultures, festivals, craftspeople, and the individuals shaping the future of sake and beyond.

Before I moved here, I spent more than two decades working in hospitality, tourism, food, and beverage. Today, I combine that experience with storytelling to create articles, photography, podcasts, events, and collaborations that help connect audiences with culture, craftsmanship, and the people behind them.

My work has been published in publications including The Japan Times, Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, Cebu Pacific Smile, All About Japan, and other international media. My photography has been exhibited both in Japan and internationally, most recently as part of KYOTOGRAPHIE’s KG+ programme at Ace Hotel Kyoto, and I am a 'Tastemaker' for Travel + Leisure, sharing my favourite places to eat and drink in Southeast Asia.

I’m actively involved in Japan’s sake industry through judging, event curation, media projects, and industry collaborations. These experiences have allowed me to work closely with brewers, producers, tourism organizations, and cultural institutions across Japan and beyond.

Whether I’m photographing a brewery, interviewing an artisan, or curating a unique cultural experience, my goal remains the same: to share the people, craftsmanship, and stories that make a place worth discovering.

When I’m not working (įŽ‘), you likely find me wandering a new neighbourhood, searching for coffee or a great eat, and of course taking photos....
